Flee From Sugar, Embrace a Healthy Skin

Having a gorgeous and fit skin, has much to do with dieting and lifestyle as it does with the choice of skincare products you make. Many people pay attention to the kind of products they apply to their skins while they pay less or no attention to what they eat. The food we eat equally affects the kind of skin we wish for.

The skin, just like other parts of the body, requires certain nutrients and vitamins to be in best shape. Nutrients such as, vitamins C, A, E and Omega 3 fatty acids are among the few, that affect the strength and texture of the skin. Refined and added sugar is one edible item that has probably had the worst press as far as healthy living is concerned. Aside its effects on the heart and being a known catalyst for obesity, developing bad skin is another effect of high level of sugar.

The most visible effects of sugar on the skin are said to include inflammation (which cause the skin to breakout), redness and rashes and wrinkles.

When sugar, sugary foods, or a high-glycemic food (a food that rapidly converts to sugar) is consumed into the body, the body breaks down these carbohydrates into glucose, which raises your insulin levels. These carbohydrates cause your insulin levels to spike, creating a burst of inflammation throughout your body due to sugar’s highly acidic nature. The least sign of inflammation in the skin will cause breakouts.

With inflammation taking place in the body, wrinkles become the next effect you are sure to experience. Collagen,  a highly proteinous substance in the body that holds the whole body together and keeps the skin wrinkle free, is the next to be affected by sugar. Sugar "eats" the collagen on a cellular level, giving rights to dehydration and then a dull-looking skin. When the collagen levels are depleted, wrinkles occur.

Redness and rashes can equally be blamed on inflammation caused by sugar. Consuming a lot of refined or added sugar can cause you to suffer from rashes or make you prone to yeast imbalances in the body. Rashes can be a sign of yeast imbalance, and redness is a basic product of inflammation.

Taking bold steps to reduce high level of sugar intake is the first step to acquiring an enviable skin. Instead of consuming a lot of refined sugary foods, and spending excessively on skincare products, begin to practice better dieting plans that will improve the skin. It is recommended that you substitute sugar with high nutrient-based foods like fruits and vegetables to keep the skin fit, smooth and strong.

Grow Like A Seed

Some research conducted on entrepreneurship have reported that an estimated 90% of start ups fail in their first few years. In our part of the world, more young people are now daring to enter the realm of entrepreneurship, however, it is no secret a few end up in the estimated 10% of start ups that succeed.  What could possibly be the cause of the failure of these entrepreneurs to realize their big dream?

Growing a business can be likened to the germination process of a fruit bearing plant. First, a seed must be planted in a fertile soil. Then this seed must decay before it can shoot up as a plant. This seedling must encounter some harsh weather conditions before it finally reaches the flower bearing stage. After bearing flowers, the tree is sure to now give off fruits that can be plucked and enjoy.

Like the seed sown in a fertile soil, you cannot begin your business in an environment that cannot support its growth. Businesses are born out of the need to solve a problem in a society. Identifying the problem means finding a fertile soil to plant your business. The decaying process of the seed that is not visible to the world can be likened to the stage in start up where you come up with a strategy that supports your growth. The strategy should involve building a business plan for at the first year, developing an effective marketing plan and building the necessary clientele for your business.
Successful businesses thrive on the element of “strategy.”

For many failed entrepreneurial endeavours, the elements of “Perseverance and focus” are far-fetched. The least encounter with challenges means leaving their future in the hands of fate. Have you ever wondered what will become of animals and humans if all plants did not try to adjust to changing weather conditions? Once you decide to start a business, you should build have a mindset that is bent on winning no matter the challenges that come by. The only way to win is think outside the box. Strategies are beautiful on paper, implementing them is another story, never dream of a smooth sail into the land of prosperity. Sticking to the status quo is not your best bet to succeed as an entrepreneur. Times change and when they do, you need to change strategy to survive. As many times as it becomes necessary to adopt new strategies, you should be willing to take the risk. Nonetheless, you should not lose focus of the goal. Remember, “there are many ways of killing a cat.” There is no fast rule to success, dare to be different, think outside the box.

“Starting “big” when you do not have the necessary resources for continuity is the recipe for a short lived dream. Do not jump into the major league right from scratch if you do not have the feet to stand the competition from the big guns. Celebrated Ghanaian businesses such as Kingdom Books & Stationery, Despite Group of Companies, Kasapereko Company Limited, UT Bank started as little unrenowned businesses. Today, they are named amongst Ghana’s top and most successful businesses. The best way to is to take time to grow into a big name, unless of course you have the muscle to wrestle with the big guns. Starting little means coming into encounter with all the mistakes you can come across in business and making the corrections. It serves as a tutorial period for the future. You can take as many risks as you can as a little company and survive, because you have time to make amends. As a big starter, you may not be able to survive the damage once you fail to deliver.

Not everyone is born to be an entrepreneur in any case and so the reality is that some may never succeed at it. Learn from the plant and build a flourishing business.  HelloFood is a perfect example of a business that has paid its dues and has found the answer to your meal delivery. Download the app now.

Choose Punctuality For Growth

In business, there are two sides to time “The Consumer’s Time” and “The Producer’s Time.” Often, business owners seem to prioritize “The Producer’s Time” and place less emphasis on “The Client’s Time.” One popular saying that may have propelled this phenomenon is “better late than never.” With its meaning misconstrued - it is okay to be late and deliver quality goods - business owners have used it as a defense for unpunctuality.Read More

YOU DON’T NEED TO SKIP MEALS

Most people choose to utilize every single minute of the day without leaving space for any form of destruction. Intercepting the day with meals is considered a time wasting phenomenon with some people who fall in the category mentioned afore. A viable reason that accounts for this choice is the stress encountered to have access to a meal - time spent in traffic, long waits at restaurants. Imagine the memories you will have after visiting a unique destination, set apart to offer you the best blend of sports and music? It was just a priceless Friday night experience at the place some people made me believe was called Charms. The name is Champs!!! I have been there and can now tell of my own moment in what I presume is Accra’s best sports bar.

A 30 minutes’ drive away from the Accra Mall stands the plush Champs Sports Bar and Grill, inside Paloma Hotel Complex on the Ring Road. My Friday night inside Champs begun with mixed feelings. Anxious to have a feel of their flagship show Happy Hour, I arrived at the venue at 7pm only to meet an almost empty bar. I thought I had chosen the wrong chill out spot after a tiring week but it was just a camouflage of what I was about to experience in the next few hours. Read More
